Canard comes through!
Shoei Rider Trey Canard closed out an extremely tough 2009 AMA West Coast Supercross Series with a big win in Salt Lake City. After suffering a broken leg at Washougal in the 2008 AMA Motocross Series, Trey didn’t get nearly as much off season testing and practice time as he would have liked. With a ton of pressure on his shoulders, the reigning East Coast Lites champion struggled through much of the 2009 season up to this point. After several big crashes, the decision was made that it would be best for Trey to sit out a few rounds of Supercross, and turn his attention to practicing and testing for this summer’s AMA Motocross Series. It appears that this time away from the Corona, California Honda Supercross Track was just what Trey needed to recharge his batteries!
After getting back up on the podium last week in Seattle, Trey came out swinging in Salt Lake City as he clawed his way back from a mid-pack start to take the victory at the inaugural running of the Salt Lake City Supercross!
“I was a little timid around Dungey because I didn’t want to mess him up,” Canard said. “I just tried to keep my head down and push through. I ran into a couple lappers near the end that hurt me, but the last lap was definitely a barnburner for sure. I was happy to get the win, though.”
