Takayuki “Taka” Higashino is a Japanese freestyle motorcross rider who competes globally in several high-profile FMX contests like the Red Bull X-Fighters and the X Games, as well as appearing in the Nitro Circus World Tour, the Nuclear Cowboyz, and other popular shows and demos.
Taka began riding at the age of seven, and while racing motocross in his teen years, also picked up the art of freestyle. Taka became a legitimate FMX pro by age 18, prompting a move from Japan to the United States to train and compete full-time. 2010 was Taka’s breakout year, with several top-level performances that earned him the title of TransWorld Motocross FMX Rider of the Year.
Since then, Taka has continued to rack up the wins, including an X Games Gold in 2012. Higashino still remains a serious threat for victory at the largest FMX contests in the world, including the X Games and the Nitro World Games, where he recently placed third.
