Born and raised in Northern Ireland, Eugene Laverty spent his early racing years competing in the British Championship series before breaking onto the world scene in 2007. Laverty competed in the highly-competitive World Supersport class from 2008-2010, taking 12 victories and finishing runner-up in two seasons before making the leap up to World Superbike. After winning his first World Superbike race at Monza in 2011, Laverty went on to spend four seasons in the class and finished in the runner-up position in the 2013 World Superbike Championship.
From 2015-2016, Laverty fulfilled a lifelong dream as he joined the premier MotoGP paddock with the Aspar Racing Team where he spent two seasons battling with the sport’s fastest racers. In 2016, Eugene scored the best result of his MotoGP career with a 4th-place finish in Argentina—an incredible accomplishment despite being outgunned by the factory machinery of his top competitors.
Laverty returned to WorldSBK in 2017 with the British-based Milwaukee Aprilia team, and despite some ups and downs with results and injuries, the determined Irishman continues to focus on capturing wins aboard his Aprilia.
