In a sport typically dominated by child prodigies, Josh Grant took a slightly different path. The California native didn’t start his motocross racing journey until 1998 at the age of 13, but it didn’t take long for the naturally gifted rider to blitz his way through the amateur ranks and into the pros. Joining the accomplished Amsoil Honda team in 2004 (now Geico Honda), JG earned a tenth-place overall in the Motocross Lites series in his rookie year, including three impressive podium finishes.
By 2006, Grant had established himself as a serious title threat, finishing the year third overall in the Supercross East Coast 250 class with three wins to his credit, and third overall in the outdoor national series with four solid podium finishes.
Grant’s move up to the premier 450 class in 2009 was an impressive one, as he won the season opener in Anaheim aboard his all-new JGRMX Yamaha. Grant would go on to finish the year with a solid fourth-place overall finish in the Supercross series, and sixth overall in the outdoors (including a win at RedBud), despite being plagued with injury during the second half of the season.
Now a member of the Monster Energy Kawasaki team, Grant is still a top contender and a threat to win on any given weekend, not to mention a lifelong SHOEI advocate!
